The Sacrifice of Praise That Pleases God
We often try to limit worship to a mandatory act performed at a specific time or place. When we focus only on the things of this earth, failing to seek the "enduring city," we experience a sense of lost direction. If we lead a double life—separating our daily routine from our spiritual worship—we are left with an emptiness that comes from failing to offer the true sacrifice that pleases God.
The author of Hebrews proclaims that "Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood" (v. 12). Therefore, we are called to go to Him "outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore" (v. 13). The sacrifices that truly please God are continually offering a sacrifice of praise through Jesus and not forgetting to do good and share with others (vv. 15–16).
Today, offer your entire life as worship that pleases God. A sacrifice of praise is the fruit of your lips, while doing good and sharing are the fruits of your hands and feet. As pilgrims journeying toward an enduring city, do not be overly attached to the things of this world. Step "outside the camp," bear the disgrace of Jesus, and become a true worshiper who fulfills your spiritual mission through kindness and praise.
